INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY MATTERS AT THE INTERNATIONAL FORUM

Our Policy for intellectual property matters

We would like to inform all presenters at the international forum about the handling of intellectual property like a patent.

The international forum will be held as a peer-reviewed international conference.

Basically, if there is a possibility of a patent application in the near future and/or a patent application by a joint research partner, please do not present the relevant content.

Presentations at the international forum will be handled in the same way as regular conference presentations. Therefore, the contents of the presentation will be treated as open to the public.

If you present something for which you plan to apply for a patent at the international forum, you may find it difficult to apply for a patent due to the loss of novelty caused by your own publication.

The Japanese patent law provides relief provisions for preserving novelty (article 30 of the patent law suggests that novelty will not be lost for one year from the date of presentation, according to prescribed procedures).

However, if you have a plan to apply for a patent in the USA, Europe, and Asia, etc., it is necessary to be more careful as the situation is different in each country.

Please understand the above situation.
